DOCUMENTARY UNIT
In this unit we are creating our own documentaries, due to COVID they have to be made at home, using our own equipment. On this blog page I have logged each stage of my work.
stage one - the briefDue to the on going situation with COVID-19, our brief has had to be slightly adjusted to fit with the government guidelines. As a group we discussed, over Teams, what our new brief would look like and how we would work around any issues of working from home. I will need to use the brief to help me create my documentary and achieve the highest grade I can. Documentary Brief Access 2021Isolation Stories:Since March 2020, all of us have had a new story to tell and new challenges to overcome. As film-makers you have a unique opportunity to document these strange times as part of your course for the video project. - Your film should tell an isolation story in 5 minutes. This story can be your own but could also tell the someone else’s story who you think should be told. It could look at the world from a wider perspective, changing technologies or your changing community. The scope for your isolation story is wide so that you can make it your own. Zoom interviews, photographs, found footage, animation, experimental content are just some of the visual components you can use to create your story. Don’t forget about sound… will there be a voiceover, music, ambient or atmospheric sound? All should be considered to make your story as effective and as powerful as possible. If shooting on phones, please remember to control the shots (mini tripods, stabilising hardware are all useful) and still be mindful of shot composition, movement, focus, lighting and mise en scene.
